Some friends used the fact that I am leaving to rent Classic Skating for a delightful evening of heaven on wheels. Skating to the compelling tunes of Chicago, The Bee Gees, Michael Sembello, KC & The Sunshine Band, Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Europe and many others made for an excellent send off of one of Orem’s finest. I believe I speak for everyone when I say it was truly rollerific.

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007Yes, the rumors are indeed true, I am moving to Chicago at the end of the month. I am really excited for many reasons but especially because according to many sources Chicago is widely considered the fattest city in the United States. This is a really great opportunity for me to reach my football playing weight target of 200 lbs coach set for me back in high school without all the effort of doing any dot drills or squats. Can’t ask for much more than that.
Why am I going to Chicago you ask? Well, after 7 hard fought years and 170 credits at the Coug, I finally managed to get my degree in accounting. It’s pretty obvious that my plan for what I was going to study was pretty well thought out from the beginning of my collegiate career. Upon graduation, I will accept a job to work for Ernst & Young, a public accounting firm, where I will be an auditor keeping the world safe from the horrors of such companies as Enron, Worldcom and many others. Some consider me to be a people’s hero for this reason, kind of like superman or Ray Peterson from The Burbs, but I’m nothing more than an ordinary bean counter.
I was out in the city over Thanksgiving break with my sister to get an apartment (she has more pictures of the trip on her blog if you want to see). After a few days of searching we were able to find a pretty sweet one. It is located on the west bank of the Chicago river, about 1/2 mile from the Sears Tower, you may have heard of it, it’s the tallest building in North America and 3rd tallest in the world. It also happens to house the offices of one Ernst & Young, so I’m kind of a big deal now.
