Boston

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

If you have never been to Boston, we strongly suggest you go. A few observations, first, it’s a lot smaller than I expected. Having lived in Chicago for the last year I was expecting a big city like Chicago, I was wrong. You can walk almost anywhere in Boston in about 20 minutes, everything is so close. Molly even figured out where things were in our short time there, and that’s really saying something. Second, you can barely go anywhere without running into some important historical landmark. You know, all those things you learned about in your 4th grade history class and by watching Johnny Tremaine? They’re all there, as you can see by some of our pictures here. The city is just full of reminders of the Revolution and having recently read “1776″ it was a very humbling feeling to be walking where those incredible men walked who founded our country.

But the highlight of the trip was being able to go to the Boston temple with all of the Turk family.

Super Wagon

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

We’ve been having quite the family discussion lately about the value of a wagon, meaning a station wagon vehicle. I personally think they’re fantastic but I do have to add a small caveat: some wagons truly are hideous and there’s no defense for them, but there are quite a few that I think are some of the best looking cars around, like this one below.

A4 Avant
I’m fine with Molly not truly appreciating the wagon, she grew up in Arizona and thought that the word Granola referred strictly to a type of food and not a lifestyle.  However, I had to draw the line when the following statement left her mouth….

“I’d rather drive a mini-van than a nice wagon”

That’s when I knew things had gotten completely out of hand.  I mean, a minivan?  Really?  Over that fine automobile pictured above?  Who’s more right, Molly or me?  There’s no right answer here but I think she’s taken the hate to an extreme level that I don’t feel comfortable with when she brought the mini-van into it.
