Saying Goodbye has never been so hard, yet so easy. As we were giving our last hugs, it was comforting to say, “Talk to you tomorrow!” I am so grateful for modern day technology.
Here are some highlights of the farewell trip to Utah.
“I Felt It”
Written by Landon on June 3rd, 2010This was a phrase I never thought I would hear from the Molly in the context that it was said. It was a proud day for me. First we need a little background.
When we were first married my brother was in Chicago for business. He wanted to drive to Wrigley Field just to see it and maybe buy something from the stores around it. I don’t think it needs repeating how big of Cubs fans we are. Brad turned to Molly and asked, “do you feel that? It’s just different here, there’s no other stadium like it.” Molly just laughed and told us we were crazy, which probably isn’t far from the truth. Well, a few days after “Cubs Week”, Molly turned to me and said those words…..”I felt it”.
At first I had no idea what she was talking about, but she continued, “At Wrigley, I felt it. I think I felt what Brad was talking about that day awhile back.” I didn’t quite know how to react. Was she serious? Was she just getting sentimental about leaving Chicago in general? Was she just playing with my emotions or even gently mocking me for my love of the Cubs? Either way, I’ll take it. It was an uphill battle, one that I had given up on before it even started. But I choose to believe that once I got her to look past the crowded seats, the loud fans, the lack of a big screen telling fans when to cheer, and the not so great food, she could tell that Wrigley was different. And it is.
Who am I kidding? It probably all had to do with the little guy in the photo above.

Written by Landon on May 23rd, 2010I missed a couple of weeks, not that many of you are overly concerned about that I’m sure.

In honor of my new found love for the sport of hockey and the Blackhawks, this is to congratulate them on making it to the Stanley Cup Finals. My whole time in Chicago I’ve really wanted one of the teams here to make it their respective championship game. And what do you know, the Blackhawks did it. Except that I am moving on Thursday, so I won’t be here for it.
