Two Ear Infections…

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010Our little rascal has been mobile for a good week now. He started on the wood floor but has since mastered the carpet.
Cubs Week!!
Saturday, May 1st, 201075 degrees, light breeze, good food, good company, good baseball game… makes for a great day right?
Wrong!
It makes for a great 2 days! On Thursday and Saturday of this week, we were able to watch the Cubs play the Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field.
It was also a week of firsts for Griff. First Cubs game, first bus ride, first train ride, first lick of ice cream (just kidding, kind of).
The first day we sat on one of the rooftops. There is nothing like sitting on the rooftops for a game. You get all you can eat food and drink, inside areas with flat screens everywhere, just fantastic. We were on the rooftop just right of the foul pole in the picture below.
View from the rooftop
On Saturday, we were actually in Wrigley. We are very proud of how Griff did through the whole thing. He lasted 7 innings on Thursday before we started really pushing naptime, but it was a little too loud for him when we were in Wrigley, we didn’t last long. The Cubs won one game and the d’backs won one. So Griff’s record stands at 1-1. (Landon is now 19-14. Yes, he does have every single ticket from every Cubs game he’s ever been to.) Here are a few of our favorites from the week.
Is there anything better?

Friday, March 26th, 2010Today Griff turns 5 months.
- 14 lb
- 24 1/2 in
- Rolls both ways
- Sucks his thumb (no pacifier)
- Turns himself around in a full circle on his tummy
- Slowly scoots, and puts himself on his knees
- Loves rice cereal, infant oatmeal, and sweet potatoes
- Can sit up on his own for a few seconds
- Loves books (Favorites include: Goodnight Moon, Mommy Loves, Quick as a Cricket, and The Litte Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear)
- Kicks constantly and has fast hands
- Loves music (He’ll kick faster if the song has a faster tempo, and slower if it has a slower tempo)
- Drools like a faucet
- Which leads to budding his first 2 teeth over the past 2 weeks
And, we love him!
The Park
Saturday, March 20th, 2010It’s amazing what fun can be had when it’s not 0 degrees outside. Needless to say, Griff hasn’t experienced much of the outside world quite yet, but this week it was in the 60′s so we took him to the park just around the corner from our apartment. (Side note: Yes, it was in the 60′s yesterday but as we write this it is snowing outside, go figure). He loooooves to swing.

Sunday, March 14th, 2010Big Day
Monday, February 15th, 2010Griff has been a closet roller for some time now. I will have him down for tummy time and turn around for 1 second and he’ll have rolled over. Or when I come in to get him from a nap he’s on his back. Yesterday was monumental for us because not only did we film him rolling over (and he’ll do it over and over again), but we also got him laughing on camera.
He makes it look so effortless and stares at me after as if to say… “Mom, this is not a big deal”
3 Month Update
Monday, February 1st, 2010When I started this blog, I was on the verge of leaving the world of academia and enter into the life of a suit. I thought I was clever enough to come up with a few funny ideas every once in a while to post. However, I quickly realized I have nothing to offer except my pictures of my pregnant wife and newborn son. There may be a day when I find something better to post than this…….
Well, on second thought, I’m pretty sure I have absolutely no chance. How do I trump that? Simple answer, I don’t. It’s impossible.
As some people know, we’ve had an interesting last 2 months and have finally made it back to Chicago after I travelled a lot for work and Molly migrated south for a good part of the winter. The bad part is that we forgot our camera. I made up for it in the first couple hours we were back home though. We also finally made it back to the pediatrician for a 3 month checkup. We’ve been anxious to know where he stands on his size, he’s kind of a little guy. The pediatrician told Molly not to worry that he is smack dab in the middle at the 50th percentile. That is until she remembered that he is actually 3 months old and not 2, that dropped him down into the 25th percentile. This news completely dashed any hopes I had of having some of my posterity reach the 6′ plateau. He is pretty strong though, so maybe a cornerback, or a 2nd baseman. Dustin Pedroia isn’t a big dude and he won the AL MVP. He obviously doesn’t let this affect him because he is still the happiest baby I know, he’ll smile at just about anything, even my dad.
Here’s a few more pictures as proof:
